Bank of Dad
Terms of Service
Effective September 4, 2026 · version 2026-09-04
The short version
Bank of Dad is a scoreboard for allowance and chores. No real money moves through it — you hold the cash, the app keeps the ledger.
You must be an adult, and you must be the parent or guardian of every child you add. That is the one promise we genuinely need from you.
It is free. Your data is yours, you can delete it at any time, and we will give you notice before that changes.
1.Who we are, and what this covers
These Terms are an agreement between you and Bright Motion LLC (“we”, “us”), at 821 E Washington Ave, Suite 200, Madison, WI 53703, covering your use of Bank of Dad at bank.justinkbeck.com.
By creating a family you accept these Terms and the Privacy Policy. If you do not accept them, do not create one.
2.What the service actually is
In short: A ledger and a chore board. Not a bank.
Bank of Dad records chores, balances and interest inside one household. It is a teaching tool with a spreadsheet underneath it.
It is not a bank, a money transmitter, a custodial account, or a financial product of any kind. We hold no funds, move no funds, and are not insured by anyone. The “interest” is money you choose to pay your own child out of your own pocket, at a rate you set. Every balance in the app is a note about what you owe them, and settling it is between you and them.
Nothing here is financial, tax, or legal advice.
3.Your account and your children
In short: You must be an adult and the parent or guardian of every child you add.
By using Bank of Dad you confirm that:
- You are at least 18 years old and can enter into this agreement.
- You are the parent or legal guardian of every child whose information you enter, and you have the authority to consent on their behalf.
- You consent to our collection and use of your children’s information as described in the Privacy Policy — the consent you sign during setup.
- You will keep your sign-in email and family PIN to yourself. Anyone with the PIN can pair a screen to your family.
If you invite a second parent, you are responsible for them having the same authority over the same children.
Children do not have accounts and never agree to anything. A child using a paired screen in your home is using your account, and you are responsible for what happens on it.
4.Acceptable use
Do not:
- Enter information about a child who is not yours, or personal details we have not asked for — a last name, a school, an address, a photograph.
- Use the app to store sensitive records: health, immigration, or credentials.
- Attempt to reach another family’s data, probe the service for weaknesses without asking us first, or automate abuse of it.
- Resell or white-label the service.
Found a security problem? Email [email protected] and we will thank you properly.
5.Money is between you and your kid
Every payout, deposit and interest payment shown in the app is a record of an agreement inside your household. We are not a party to it. We do not guarantee that any balance will be paid, and we cannot help you collect one.
If a balance in the app is wrong, you can correct it — you own the ledger. We will not adjust one household’s numbers at another member’s request.
6.What it costs
Bank of Dad is free today, with no card required. If we ever introduce a paid plan we will give account holders at least 30 days’ notice by email, and anything you have already put in stays exportable and deletable whatever you decide.
7.Your data stays yours
You own everything you put in — your family’s names, chores and history. You grant us only the permission needed to host it, display it back to you, back it up, and keep the service running.
You may delete a child, or your whole family, at any time. See the Privacy Policy for how, and for what we keep afterwards and why.
8.Availability, changes, and ending it
We will try to keep the service up and to warn you before anything disruptive, but this is a small product and there is no uptime guarantee. Features may change or be withdrawn.
You can stop at any time by deleting your family. We may suspend or close an account that breaks section 4, that is being used to harm someone, or where the law requires it — and unless we are barred from doing so, we will tell you why and give you a chance to export first.
If we ever shut the service down, we will give at least 30 days’ notice and a way to take your data with you.
9.Disclaimers and limits
The service is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.
To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect, incidental or consequential damages, and our total aggregate liability under these Terms is capped at the amounts you paid us in the twelve months before the claim arose — which, while the service is free, is US $100.
Some jurisdictions do not allow these exclusions, in which case they apply to you only as far as that jurisdiction permits. Nothing here limits liability for fraud or for anything that cannot lawfully be limited.
10.Governing law and contact
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Wisconsin, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules, and disputes will be resolved exclusively in the state or federal courts located in Wisconsin.
We will post changes to these Terms here and update the version at the top, giving at least 30 days’ notice by email for material ones. Continuing to use the service after that means you accept them.
